Back from yet another trip into the Life image archive. Today, it's a shoot by Ralph Crane depicting an intimate dinner party aboard a Goodyear Blimp. The year is not apparent. We could date it approximately; for example, the party arrives at the airfield in a car that looks like a 1954 Cadillac.
Two men and two women dine, wearing formal dress. A pilot, Mr. Crane, and a white-coated waiter complete the party. The flight begins before sundown, candles are lit, and lights of a nocturnal cityscape soon surround our aerial dining room.

Candlelight dinner aboard the Goodyear Blimp Enterprise.

Some of the culinary equipment is loaded aboard in a Heinz Chili Sauce box.
Of course, this is not a patch on the luxurious accommodations of passenger Zeppelins in the 1930s, as seen below, but it is the best that can be managed in the 1950s:

(Frankly, I'm baffled how, in the crowded gondola, Ralph Crane managed to get shots from both the aft side of the table and the forward side. I think he must have done something undignified.)
