I find myself wondering:

Will there be any filkers attending the Heinlein Centennial in Kansas City in July?

And would it be worthwhile to organize a filk concert of Heinlein-related songs at some point?

And is there another place on the Net I should be asking these questions?

(Can't contribute much myself, except that I know how to play "I'm My Own Grandpa" on the ukulele, a song which appears in two Heinlein time-travel stories...)

Kitten has been after me to attend. Don't know yet if I will or not. I suppose I could learn something to play, or I could just sing "Lies" by Stan Rogers.

I'd probably enjoy this, but am currently planning to attend the Winnipeg Folk Festival, same as always. In link-hopping around ye olde Internet, I foud myself searching on

Heinlein spung

for reasons which should be obvious to the aficionado. I located during this exercise Dave Langford's review (http://www.ansible.co.uk/writing/numbeast.html)of "Number of the Beast," which I enjoyed reading.

I am hoping to go to Africa this fall. If I do that all my spare money (and then some) and all my vacation time will be gone. Even if the Africa trip doesn't pan out, it's a very expensive weekend and I'm not really sure how much there would really be for me at it. (I enjoy Heinlein's writing but I never saw him in person and I have little connection with Heinlein the man.) So I personally won't be there unless a lot of people I want to be there with make it known that they're going.

I assume barbarakitten_t will be along soon to tell us how she's coming on her project of getting some filk together.
