Rocket Belt Weekend: My Favorite Photo
Sep. 25th, 2006 12:17 am
Today, Ray O'Keefe, the Executive Director, helped me try on Bell Rocket Belt number 2,
Note that this is a fantasy in more than one sense; as the thing has only 300 pounds of thrust, it can lift its own weight, plus propellant, only if the operator weighs less than 188 pounds. So it wasn't made for guys like me. However, the builders did allow generous room in the corset.
At last, I know how it feels to wear an (empty) rocket belt. On the ground, most of the weight rides on your hips.

Date: 2006-09-25 02:53 pm (UTC)"cap'n Geek, the zomboids from the far side of Mars are just on the other side of the hill. We've sent everything we have at them--hand grenades, bazookas, and even the Atomic Bomb. But nothing will stop them. These are dark days for the Earth, Cap'n geek. Our last hope is that one man, flying low, can infiltrate their camp and find out the secret of their immunity to our weapons"
"Yes sir, Colonel Bullwark! Anything I can do to help save Earth!"
"I knew I could count on you, Rocket."
(sound of rocket blast)
"Captain Rrrrrocket Geek, AWAAAAaaaaaay!"
