Along those lines, Sandy tells me that Eastern Michigan University used to have a sign at a parking lot that said:

"Main parking full? Park in outer space. It's free!"

What they *meant* was, that there was an area around the parking lot where there was additional room for parking in a pinch. But that's not how it came across.
