The site for Lookout Guardians is now up and running:
We help you collect and record the information and pictures necessary for instant action if your pet should ever become lost.
[...]
Right now only about 2% of lost cats and 17% of lost dogs ever get home. They deserve better. By creating a rapid email network among the neighbors where the pet is believed to be lost, we can dramatically enhance the chances of our pets getting home safe and sound with out really interfering with folks' daily activities.
Wish my family luck with this new company. And, if you can, please spread the word about it.

Very best of luck. Is micro-chipping common in your area?

Yes, it's more common in dogs, less common in cats.

RFID chips are useful in identifying a pet once it has been found. But the pet needs to be within inches of a scanner, for example at a vet's office.

Lookout Guardians address the problem of locating a pet that has wandered away.

I'm being semi-lazy, so I'm complaining to you. I tried to register and was thwarted with the first field. Underscores are legal according to the rules posted below the field, only it wouldn't accept mrs_sweetpeach. I screencapped the error, went to contacts, and there isn't a feedback link there. Kelley's email is, but I wanted a direct way writing from within my browser (it's true most people don't have to switch computers to send email, but I do). Being able to upload a picture from the contact page would be helpful in this instance, but I can't think of a single contact page that has that feature so I'm not actually complaining about that part).

Frustrated but very hopeful that the site takes off, is financially viable, and reunites thousands of wee beasts with their humans.
