My Livejournal blog is entitled Eponymously Yours, W. Skeffington Higgins.

Should I have instead called it The Skeffington Post?

Heavens, no. It would destroy your credibility.

If people didn't get the joke, they would likely associate your blog with a scurrilous rag I grew up reading in the DC area, which is essentially the newsletter for a political Party I will not name so's they don't have me killed.

Only if you're willing to speak in an adorable Greek accent. Since I am a daughter of Canton, Ohio, I think you should call this blog The Skeffington Repository.

W. Skeffington Higgins is riffing on the name of a certain website started by Arianna Huffington.

You could always rename it The Skeffington Post, and give it the subtitle "Eponymously Yours, W. Skeffington Higgins."

No. Given the half-life of popular websites these days, in three years people would be saying "What's that supposed to mean?"

But The Washington Post was already 12 years old when, at the request of its owners, John Philip Sousa composed a march named for the newspaper. So its name is not likely to be forgotten soon.

On the other hand, no newspaper is safe, these days.

On the gripping hand, I think Eponymously Yours, W. Skeffington Higgins is a terrific name, and I'm not actually tempted to change it.
