I will probably never get another chance to enjoy this kind of attention. And it won't last long.

Some headlines imply personal criticism:

Disorganized Hurricane Bill moves north

And there are a few examples of the rare "Double-Bill" headline:

Bill and Hillary Clinton vacation on Bermuda as Hurricane Bill approaches
Hurricane Bill may run Hillary, Bill Clinton out of Bermuda

So long as no-one thinks of (nuclear) intervention; then the headlines might say

Kill Bill....

which you might consider to be rather unfortunate...

I hope he's not threatening the Maritime Provinces.

Tullio tells me this is the only reasonable time to be in South Florida: when there is a big storm far out to sea, and 8-to-10 foot swells are pounding the Atlantic beaches. Ah yes, as evidenced by some of those last headlines... so it must be true!

I imagine we will all fall over in shock if there is ever a hurricane named Skeffington...

I remember feeling somewhat the same way about Hurricane David, many years ago.

Careful about that. My eldest niece's name is Katrina.

Well, I think you'll have to wait another 10 years or so. I think that's how it takes for the lists of hurricanes to do a complete rotation. Unless, of course, that this year's Bill is so destructive that it is permanently retired from the list (like Katrina was).

I just have one question. I know that after the alphabetic list of names, the National Weather Service then switches to the Greek alphabet -- Alpha, Beta, etc. What happens if we ever get to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Omega, and then we get yet another tropical storm or hurricane? What name do they give that one?

Hurricane Bill & Hugo

If a hurricane of this size is heading your way and you have 2 boats in the water, the more information the merrier. At the moment 8/22 AM I will be leaving the boats on their moorings in Chatham, MA but tropical storm force winds are extending out for 275 miles so I will be putting on some extra tie downs. Not having to haul out left me some extra time yesterday to reminisce about riding out Hurricane Hugo on a 59' Trimaran in Culebra, PR http://wp.me/pb0Ok-28
