Good lord! He's here? All the way from the Vatican? OMG. Now I might have to watch what I say...

Well, let me begin with this: Ciao Guido, e benvenuto! Non l'ho visto per tanti anni, ma spero che tutto e ancora buone con te. Cari saluti da Amy.

Ok. I actually understood every word -- except "ancora." Does it modify "buone?" If so, it probably has something to do with "much" or "many." But it's not the right word. And it might not be modifying anything.

Italian is crafty that way.

[no, I have never studied Italian. I can say "grazi" and "multi bene" and "prego" and that's about it. But I can read it by guessing from Spanish and French. I suppose that's why it strikes me as "crafty." -- Every now and then neither French nor Spanish help at all!]

No, that's a mistake. I read your note, then re-read my own post about 6 times, shaking my head, muttering to myself that I really shouldn't do this in public any more. "Ancora" translates roughly to "again"; in this case, it's a brain splinter... really, really in the wrong place. Oops.
