As you may know, I have only the faintest of interest in sports, and follow no channels devoted to sports news. However, in the past couple of weeks, a number of TV shows I watch have brought to my attention that a U.S. soccer team did very well in the World Cup, though not, in the end, winning it. Yesterday, this was even pointed out in a sermon by the pastor of the church I was attending.
All I can say is that Americans seem to have found more enthusiasm for the World Cup competition since it switched over from teams of male soccer players to teams of female soccer players.
