beamjockey: Drawing of Bill of the Heterodyne Boys by Phil Foglio. (Default)
As you may know, there exists a marvelous site called The Internet Speculative Fiction Database, brainchild of the industrious Al von Ruff. It indexes all kinds of science fiction authors, stories, magazines, and so forth.

Long ago, Barry Gehm and I sold our filksong "Home on Lagrange" to Jerry Pournelle for an anthology about space colonies. It may be only a filksong, but it counts for the purposes of the ISFDB.

Recently I egoscanned the site and found that I was credited with two "stories," not one. [livejournal.com profile] shsilver assisted me in figuring this out. There is (or was) another Bill Higgins, and he published a story in Galaxy's February 1974 issue.

The upshot is that the attached twins have now been separated. The other guy published first. Therefore I am now designated as "Bill Higgins [2]."

Unfortunately, a bug in the ISFDB code causes failure to find a page if its URL has any punctuation-- such as brackets. So you can't find my entry by browsing around ISFDB.

Nevertheless, I do exist. Here's the link: http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/eas.cgi?Bill_Higgins_[2].

(As I told the ISFDB crew, I am serenely confident that they will fix the bug in due time.)

In the Contento Index of anthologies, I remain http://contento.best.vwh.net/s123.htm#A2082.
