Great Smoking Zambonis!

From the Things You Didn't Know You Always Wanted To See Department:

I imagine the hipper elements of the blogosphere have already posted links to the CNN footage of a Zamboni machine that caught fire, then exploded, in Aston, Pennsylvania. But just in case you missed it, here you go.

Not much of an explosion, but then again, for a Zamboni? Awesome!

Zamboni has become part of the American lexicon. I wonder just how many other names have become iconic machine ID? Leer Jet is one, any others?

I hadn't seen the footage, but it *did* make the NPR news, so I was aware of the event.

just this past weekend I attended a MN Wild game here in "The State of Hockey" as they so lovingly refer to Manysnowta. One of the team promos is that some lucky fan gets to be a "Guest Zamboni Rider" each time they bring the things out. (They are thorough, they use two at a time here) I think if more folks see that video, they will have a tougher time with that little giveaway.

It's like... art.

Great, now hockey fans are going to want ever bigger and more spectacular Zamboni explosions during the games... where will it all end?
