Bruce Schneier. C-SPAN 2. Right Now.

For those interested in watching...

(C-SPAN will stream you past talks in their library, so if you miss Bruce tonight you can catch him later.)

Edited to Add: C-SPAN says "He was the keynote speaker at the day-long conference examining the Transportation Security Agency’s use of body scanners and enhanced pat-downs at airports around the country." Here's the link to the streaming version. In which we learn that Ralph Nader, seen lurking in the back of the audience, is an admirer of Schneier on Security, but is unclear on how "Schneier" is pronounced.

Any idea if there's some way to get the library version onto a format I can upload onto YouTube?

C-SPAN recently announced the availability of downloadable versions, upon request. They'll charge money, because it takes some work to prepare one.

You can buy a DVD of a talk for about thirty bucks. The download is available for purchase on the same form.

(Some talks are embeddable.)

Here's Bruce's talk that aired last night. The download, if available, would be a button under "Purchase" on the right. You might write to C-SPAN and see whether you can get a download of this particular talk. I presume you'd also have to negotiate for permission if you want to put it on Youtube.

Earlier talks by Bruce:

Computers, Freedom, and Privacy conference in 2009. Bruce speaks for about 10 minutes starting at 32 minutes into the clip. This one is not embeddable.

Testimony to the U.S. Senate about the REAL ID Act in 2007. Bruce begins about 39 minutes in, but he makes later appearances as the Senators question witnesses. (This is allegedly embeddable, but it's giving me trouble; you may see an error message below.)

Thanks much. As long as it's available online, it doesn't matter whether it's on C-SPAN or YouTube.

Bruce's blog post with the link will show up soon.
