Font ID Help Needed

What font is this?

KeepInTouch

I'm thinking it looks a lot like Comic Sans, but it seems to be stretched vertically.

Let's see if the FONT tag will work here on Livejournal. Here's an attempt to render the same phrase in Comic Sans:

the n and K are wrong for comic sans. This could be a slightly altered comic sans font.

[identity profile] maiac.livejournal.com 2007-06-20 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd also say Comic Sans, possibly stretched a bit.

[identity profile] whl.livejournal.com 2007-06-20 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I think the K is a good match, assuming you shot this obliquely, or on a non-flat surface (such as the one I referenced in my e-mail.)

On the other hand, the line across the "e" seems a sag a bit on Comic Sans in Text Edit on my PowerBook, and the ones in the example you have there seem straight as a ruler to my eye.

[identity profile] whl.livejournal.com 2007-06-20 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Or it did, especially at 16 or 36 point; in 18 point, it looks a lot like what is in the photo...

If your source is pre-1995 it isn't comic sans.

it sure looks like the Comic Sans MS that I have here. I would say that it may be stretched to about 110% ... maybe even 115%, but not much more than that

One other small thing- the "u" in your post doesn't seem to have a downstroke, while the "u" in Comic Sans does...

[identity profile] del-c.livejournal.com 2007-06-20 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I can see a downstroke there.

[livejournal.com profile] beamjockey, you could try interrogating (or rather, being interrogated by) Identifont, although I suspect that the reward for answering all the questions will be to be told that the font is Comic Sans, or a close Comic Sans-a-like.

I think it's Arial Rounded Bold (I had reason to use it last night).

Other samples of the same mystery font show that, indeed, the "u" just barely has a downstroke.

[identity profile] del-c.livejournal.com 2007-06-20 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, check out the 't'. No tail on the sample, which Arial Rounded MT has.

Um, the sample that you displayed is a serif font, which Arial is not.

[identity profile] blufive.livejournal.com 2007-06-20 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] del_c has marked it up as Arial Rounded MT in the source, but it will only actually show up as that your screen if you have that font installed on your system. If you don't have it installed, your browser's going to use whatever font it feels like, which may well be serif (like my browser does, 'cause I don't have that particular Arial variant here, either).

As the guy known to my coworkers as Dr. Font (I'm a graphic designer) that is most definately

COMIC SANS

It was been stretched vertically somewhat and has a blur added (duh)

Now, before you go and commit some typographical crime with this horribly overused font, PLEASE consider other fonts....

Sorry, I was too clever by half, and should have said "Arial Rounded MT Bold" specifically.

I hope that works better.

Did your friend Del_C work and play with my friends John and Kimmee in Chicago 20 years ago?

No can do, sorry. I have a project that requires duplicating the mystery font as closely as possible. So I am resigned to the fact that further crimes will be committed.

The bancomicsans site fails to enlighten the ignorant. Why, exactly, THIS overused font, and not another?

I am a "typography has many subtleties, of which I am mostly unaware, so when in doubt, use Helvetica" kind of guy. I would like to become smarter someday. The bancomicsans.com site seems like a pure goof, when it could have been an opportunity to educate the unwashed public about design.

Likely not. He has always lived in the UK, as far as I know.

Here's a handy resource for this sort of problem. Upload an image of your type sample, and it comes back with matches.

Um. It helps to have a clear image. I tried it with yours, and it couldn't tell where the letters were. If all else fails, it has a button for consulting an expert.
